If you want to become a qualified Plumber then this industry recognised entry level 2 will be your starting point. You will start with the very basics and progress to a comprehensive understanding of domestic plumbing covering both theory and practical to enable you to work successfully as a Plumber.

This comprehensive training package is designed to guide you through achieving your City & Guilds Level 2 Plumbing qualification, along with your WRAS and G3 certifications, before progressing on to your NVQ assessment.

The City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma provides the core knowledge required for all aspects of modern domestic plumbing, while the NVQ qualification is ideal for those aiming to carry out site-based work. Gaining a WRAS certificate allows you to register with an Approved Contractors’ Scheme such as WIAPS (Water Industry Approved Plumbers’ Scheme), and holding a G3 certificate enables you to legally work on Unvented Hot Water Systems.

All of these are industry-recognised trade qualifications that form essential steps for anyone looking to advance their skills and career within the plumbing sector.

Course Breakdown

To achieve the Level 2 NVQ in Plumbing Heating learners must achieve 49 credits from the mandatory units:

Health and safety in building services engineering
Electrical principles and processes for building services engineering
Scientific principles for domestic, industrial and commercial plumbing
Common plumbing processes
Cold water systems
Domestic hot water system
Sanitation
Central heating systems
Drainage system
Understand how to communicate with others within building services engineering

You must also complete a work base portfolio which will require 2 assessor site visits

C&G 6035 Level 2 Diploma

The Level 2 Plumbing Diploma combines both hands-on practical training and essential theoretical learning. To gain this qualification, you’ll complete a series of practical assessments alongside online examinations. Everything required to succeed is included — such as a comprehensive Level 2 Plumbing reference guide.

Our training centre is equipped with state-of-the-art tools and facilities, ensuring you have access to everything you need throughout your course. You’ll be fully supported by our experienced plumbing instructors, who provide expert tuition and guidance at every stage. In addition, you’ll have access to a library of helpful plumbing videos to reinforce your learning — ideal for use both during your studies and later as a quick refresher while working on-site.

C&G 6189 – NVQ

The Level 2 NVQ in Plumbing is completed through on-site assessments once you’ve gained access to work within the industry. Successfully achieving this qualification will allow you to apply for a JIB PMES Blue Card — a key requirement for those wishing to undertake plumbing work on construction sites.

WRAS Certification

This is a one-day course with study materials provided beforehand. On the training day, you’ll receive tuition followed by a written exam to complete your assessment.

G3 – Vented and Unvented Hot Water Systems

This one-day course also includes pre-course learning materials to help you prepare. During the session, you’ll receive both practical training and theoretical instruction, followed by an exam and hands-on assessment to demonstrate your competence.
